Mercury went into retrograde on Monday, and I'm glad I keep tabs on the planets so when wires cross on a week that involves lots of planning, travel, and communication, I can remember and remind loved ones to stay flexible and be understanding and don't take things personally.
And then sometimes with this attitude you get blown off course and find yourself somewhere you didn't expect and it's just wonderful.l0
Which is how I found myself walking into the Cyndi Lauper Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour last Tuesday, which I never could have justified but when my brother found a $28 ticket and I was in the neighborhood by accident wearing something cool, it seemed crazy not to. The girl, now 70, is a legend, and I have never seen her in person (though I referenced her in the introduction to Every Man, Woman and Child+ Every Living Soul). I spent another $15 on the way in on a pink wig, because 100% of the proceeds go to her Nonprofit, Girls Just Want to Have Fun…damental Rights!

She's so unusual! There was a story about her fulfilling collaborations with other woman artists and a costume change for every song, like this red blazer she wore on Iko Iko with the detachable washboard and yellow ruffles:
Speaking of pink, orange, red, and yellow, of creative mashups and surprising moments…
My favorite color is when you mash cranberry sauce and yams together. I get to enjoy it every Thanksgiving, though this year I missed it because we were doing something new and interesting (Yam and cranberry kale salad alongside smoked turkey benedict on stuffing waffles)! There's no name for this solid sunset, fleshrose curry, peachlght merlot shade of mouthwater tint but instead of writing something interesting and important this week like Dave did on Entropical Paradise (maybe that's the colorname, hey), I spaced out on tryptophan and diddled through my phone files to fire those pleasure neurons with photos of the elusive shade.
If sweet savory tart orangy pinky red turns you on, you can browse the 20 yummy colors and memories that I loaded onto Instagram.
Today a surprise parrot, of all people, with a head that matched my orange and yellow house, walked onto my finger, and into my heart but that’s yet another true story.
May delicious and colorful moments find you, too, as the holidays unfold!
