What a weird coincidence that a new day appears in the calendar in the years we to pick our president. Wouldn’t it be so much more efficient if we held elections every February 29th?
There are a thousand reasons this doesn’t make sense but I still want it to be so. All over the world. Because wouldn’t that just makes sense?
It’s called “Leap Day” and thats what elections are, or should be. They’re competitive; when someone leaps ahead, that’s a pretty special person. And in voting we want to take things to the next level. We want to jump into a better future.
Besides, Every four years, semi-monthly salaried employees work an extra day for free. Is that fair? Make it a day off for everyone. And a day to do your civic duty. And then celebrate afterwards by literally leaping.
Yes, that’s the rest of my idea. Every neighborhood should gather its citizens to leapfrog down all its streets; just come out of your house and jump over your neighbors. You will definitely remember who they are tomorrow.
And now please enjoy this video of students in Fresno showing us how it’s done.
I invite you to take a creative leap next Thursday! (Please report back!)
