I’m hanging out with my big brother, celebrating his milestone birthday this year by watching his favorite episodes of Black Mirror and making pasta from scratch and getting him energized about his own writing, about education and Aloha, which is deeply spiritual beyond “hello” and “goodbye,” and something the world needs more of.
My husband Dave, who makes a 5-song playlist for me every Friday, provided a sweet little soundtrack. Take a listen, and imagine the island breezes, tropical birdsong, and… chickens. Everywhere. That one ^ wandered into my late afternoon shadow.
I hope you have a great weekend…and if you’re in Kauai, join us for what has evolved into a Creative Convivium!
Dear Kaua’i creative ohana,
I hope you can join us this Sunday November 19th at 4pm for an Italian dinner party featuring my sister: author and artist Kristen Caven.
Kristen will be our guest host at an event called a "Creative Convivium," during which we will eat, drink, enjoy artistic presentations, and have great conversations.
At this event, Kristen will reveal her next book, a manual for teaching Human Rights. The book comes out on December 10th, which is the 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
We'll be making piles and piles of pasta, of many different types, so Kristen will also entertain us with readings from her spicy novella, The Vesuvian Affair, and her forthcoming memoir, Ten Days, Ten Pounds: What I Gained from Losing It in Italy and How I Became A Volcano Goddess.
We'll also get to hear some ideas from The Winning Family: Where No One Has to Lose, which she co-wrote with my mom, Dr. Louise Hart.
Everyone gets a book, and we’re also fundraising for Lahaina schools.
Aloha,
Damian Nash
Creative Convivium, indeed! How I wish I were there! Send a link for your fundraiser please (and maybe a small video of the CC, I love it! 💕💕💕
