“In times of stress, letting one's gaze relax and expand to a panoramic view can help us adapt and balance.” — Shoshana
I love this and I hope everyone can expand their gaze, even as we cope with the stress as our citizens fall victim to current political circumstances.
Here’s a panorama I captured 10 years ago on my fateful, magical trip to Italy. You can hear me panting, perhaps cursing under my breath—I was climbing an abandoned mountain alone and thought I’d die before I got to the top. This moment is a reminder of the work it takes to get perspective. And we’ve all got a mountain to climb!
What a week. Also, pro tip: don’t drop your portable backup drive just after you’ve backed up all your data and erased your laptop to install a new system.
There are some more peaceful panoramas in this month’s Walkin’ with Joaquin blog post…and and another kind of territorial war story—on thistles!
Finally, here’s a panoramic opportunity that is restful and fun and in keeping with the spirit of the weekend which is and should be about LOVE in all its forms, especially romance, which is awesome when it happens! If you’re in the Bay Area, join me tomorrow for a Literary Cruise featuring readings from Ten Days, Ten Pounds (not the mountain slog but something more watery) AND other literary lights. 1:30pm-3pm, hit the protests before or after, support a lovely local business…and get that deep breath and people connection you need. Hit me up on social if you’re interested!
Why do I have the insatiable need for all-you-can-eat pasta?
